From 29 November 2025 the winter season returns with spectacular descents, taste, and culture at the summit! Plan de Corones is the destination to experience for ski enthusiasts and families. On 29 November 2025, the Dolomites Region Plan de Corones officially inaugurates the 2025/26 ski season. Considered one of the South Tyrol’s number one ski resort, Plan de Corones (Kronplatz in german) offers the perfect blend of cutting-edge lifts, impeccably groomed slopes, high-altitude gourmet experiences, and noteworthy cultural offerings — all immersed in the extraordinary natural scenery of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Plan de Corones ski area for all levels: from families and beginners to intermediate and expert skiers With 121 km of slopes and 31 state-of-the-art lifts, Plan de Corones is one of the most modern ski areas in the Alps. Around 75% of the slopes are red and blue — ideal for families, beginners, and intermediate skiers. The wide, sunny runs provide an ideal environment to learn, improve, and have fun, with plenty of room for smooth turns on skis. For adrenaline lovers, the famous “Black Five” are a true challenge: five steep, technical black runs — including the legendary Erta in San Vigilio, designed to test even the most expert skiers. An authentic energy rush! Thanks to the variety on offer, every skier, from beginners to the most ambitious, finds their ideal slope, with snow reliability guaranteed for the entire season, thanks to altitude and an advanced snowmaking system. Not to mention that Plan de Corones is part of Dolomiti Superski, the world’s largest ski carousel, connecting to a network of 12 ski areas and over 1,200 km of slopes. Plan de Corones: skiing amid UNESCO Dolomite scenery Plan de Corones rises at the gateway to the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, one of the gems of the Dolomites. From the 2,275 m summit you can enjoy spectacular views over Dolomite peaks and snow-covered valleys — a landscape protected by UNESCO for its beauty and uniqueness. Beyond alpine skiing, in the Dolomites Region Plan de Corones you can enjoy authentic slow-paced nature experiences with snowshoeing and ski tours leading to lakes and silent forests, into the most unspoiled heart of the alpine environment. Culture at the summit Plan de Corones offers much more than sport. At the top you’ll find two extraordinary museums: the Messner Mountain Museum Corones, designed by starchitect Zaha Hadid, and LUMEN – Museum of Mountain Photography. Here you can easily switch from skis to culture, immersing yourself in the history of mountaineering, mountain photography, and the visual storytelling of life at altitude. This fusion of sport and culture at high altitude makes Plan de Corones one of Europe’s most distinctive ski destinations. High-altitude culinary experiences Plan de Corones is also a paradise for food lovers. Traditional mountain huts invite you to savor South Tyrolean specialties such as speck dumplings (canederli), schlutzkrapfen, or apple strudel. For a high-end gastronomic experience, AlpiNN – Food Space & Restaurant, led by Michelin-starred chef Norbert Niederkofler, elevates alpine cuisine with the “Cook the Mountain” philosophy, based exclusively on regional and seasonal ingredients. The panoramic windows over the Dolomites create a unique atmosphere where cuisine, culture, and nature blend harmoniously. A special highlight of the season is “Speck & Wine Emotion”: from 29 January to 26 March 2026, every week, guided ski tours lead guests from hut to hut to taste South Tyrol PGI speck paired with local wines. A true celebration of South Tyrol’s culinary heritage that turns a day on the slopes into a gourmet journey. Nordic skiing and the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in the Anterselva Valley For those who prefer cross-country to downhill, the enchanting Anterselva Valley is a Nordic paradise, where in winter you can train on 60 km of curated tracks winding through woods and snow-covered lakes, with routes suitable for beginners and experts. Here you’ll also find the Südtirol Arena Alto Adige, one of the world’s most famous biathlon stadiums, which hosts World Cup races and will be an Olympic venue in 2026. Skiers and cross-country enthusiasts can literally follow in the tracks of champions! For the first time in sports history, some competitions of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will also take place in South Tyrol, in the Dolomites Region Plan de Corones: all biathlon competitions will be held in the Anterselva Valley from 06 to 22 February 2026, with its breathtaking scenery and world-class arena. Plan de Corones confirms its role as a leading territory within the great international sporting event, which will offer unforgettable moments to sports fans from all over the world. Other events not to be missed in Dolomites Region Plan de Corones The winter calendar at Plan de Corones is as rich as its slopes. In addition to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in the Anterselva Valley, the spotlight turns to San Vigilio for the return of the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup on 20 January 2026: the giant slalom on the Erta slope draws the world’s best athletes and an enthusiastic crowd. At the same time, the magic of tradition shines down in the valleys. From 28 November 2025 to 6 January 2026, the medieval streets of Brunico and the valley towns host Christmas Markets, with artisan stalls, festive lights, mulled wine, and all the Italian Christmas atmosphere — the perfect way to end a day on the slopes. The Dolomites Region Plan de Corones blends sport, culture, nature, and lifestyle like no other, offering experiences both at altitude and in the valley: from perfectly prepared slopes to international events, from culture at the summit to the authentic flavors of the huts.
