Montreux, famous for his relationships and his events related to the world of entertainment, is a town in the canton of Vaud overlooking Lake Geneva, the so-called “Swiss Riviera”. It is definitely a place suitable for a stay with the kids in Switzerland thanks to the nature and the mountains that surround it.
Montreux has one of the most beautiful walks along the lake and towards the surrounding villages around Montreux as La Tour-de-Peilz Clarens, Montreux and Villeneuve. Famous is his Castle of Chillon, which can be reached easily by bus, on foot or by boat, from where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Lake Geneva.
Along the walk you can see, the colors of the flowers and green leaves, many small sculptures and monuments that recall artists and events related to the city.
Montreux is linked to the biographies of many great artists such as Deep Purple, Freddy Mercury or Miles Davis of which you can find small statues or monuments scattered along the side walks of the city.
Freddy Mercury, leader of the British band The Queen spent the last years of his life in Montreux, at the Duck House, which since 2003 dedicates a festival. Deep Purple on the other hand have made this city famous thanks to their famous song “Smoke on the water”.
Famous the Mountain Studios, recording studios still used by many international artists and owned by the producer of the Queen, and the Christmas market in Montreux Noel.
